Mrs. Mabel Harris

Mabel Harris (aka Katie K), born in 1870, is the widow of Mr. Marvin Harris.  For a 75-year-old women, Mabel is in remarkably good health and spirits.  Mabel enjoys cooking, especially baking biscuits for the family dinners.  She also likes to knit quilts.

In her younger days, Mabel was known as an award-winning dancer.  She once could "cut a rug" with any style: ballroom dancing, salsa dancing, and even the fox trot!  Ten years ago, Mabel became the oldest women to compete in a marathon dance, lasting for 10 days and 15 hours.  It is literally one of the greatest feats accomplished by any 75-year-old woman named Mabel from northwestern Indiana.  Even still she is revolutionizing dancing by recently creating the latest dance craze called the "dislocated hip."
